My hubby and I take little get-away trips every now and then to 'recharge' (ok, it's really an excuse to eat a lot plus get my shopping fix at some new places!) We just got back from Columbus, which is about 2 hours from where we live. I didn't find a ton this trip, but what I did find is some good stuff! Here is a pic of my 'booty'. I'm always drawn to wire, so I was happy to find a couple of cool wire baskets. I also got some great industrial hooks, two metal and wood boxes/sifters, a square tin picture frame, and an abacus.
Last year my friend Suzanne (who lives in Columbus and always finds the new/best places to shop!) and I hit upon an antique mall called Heritage-and inside is an absolute gem called 'Motley Junket'. Whenever I get to Columbus I beeline for Polly (and her friend Keely's) booth! Right after I got there, Polly actually came in to stock up, so it was a great surprise to see her! (She has a fun blog-Sassafrass Stuff) They had so many great things filling their booth, but these are what came home with me: the fun cubbies-imagine the possibilites!; the rolled up maps-I bought some there before and was happy to see she had more; the wooden drawer unit-I love how rustic it is!; and the receipt 'thing' that is perfect to hold business cards! At this point I'm not sure what will end up where (my shop, or Etsy, or my home!) But I sure had fun hunting!

Sunny Side Up-Part Deux
First, I want to say a GIGANTIC thank you to Angie at Knick of Time for featuring me on her amazing blog! She has been so kind, taking the time to give me some suggestions and much needed help (I can use all I can get!) Also, thank you to all of you who found me, gave me a warm welcome, and became a follower~I truly appreciate you! I just got back from a little 2 day get-away with my hubby, so I'll soon post some of the fun goodies I found...but for now, here's the other half of my sun room.
This old work bench/table came from an antique mall-I added the "3", my favorite number. The chair is my favorite spot for morning coffee or reading.
This bookcase was in the shop for about a minute, before I brought it home! I just love its shabbiness! The goodies on the top of it are in an earlier post (an up close view.) I hung a large frame and wreath above it.
And now we're back to the other side of the room again. The pallet shelf is also in a previous post. So there's my complete sun room! Have a wonderful night!

Sunny Side Up
Happy Memorial Day to everyone! I'm showing more pictures of our sun room (which is off the back of our living room,) since we pretty much live out here in the warm weather. In the fall/winter season the furniture in here gets pushed aside, and my hubby fills the room with firewood for our wood-burning stove. So each spring when I put the room back together, I basically give it a whole makeover. The screens stay against the one wall of windows that face our neighbors-they create a nice barrier for privacy. This year I decided to use an old factory cart as a coffee table in front of the 'couch'. It has special significance, because it came from the company that my dad worked at for 40 years! (Plus I just think it's cool!)
I've had these old lockers forever, but could never find the right place for them...til now! I got them at an antique mall, and I love their industrial vibe! Plus, they're great storage, as they're filled with my mags and Pottery Barn catalogs :) My friend Carol stenciled some shams for me that I'm using as chair back cushions-I love how they turned out!
This is the back wall when you walk into the room. The wooden drawer unit called my name when I spotted it at a shop in Amish country-I had to have it! One of our little fur babies (Bobbie aka 'Bob') is curled up on the chair to the right-you can usually find both of our cats napping in here! I'll continue the sun room tour next time...enjoy your Memorial Day!

I've Been Framed!
One of my weaknesses is old frames...the shabbier the better! Something about their chippy paint, and their worn and distressed wood really speaks to me. I have many all over the house, but this smaller white one on my mantel is my favorite. Probably because the ornate detail on the top makes it unusual, and the patina is perfect!
I love layering frames of different heights and sizes. Here I've added some stacked books (not old, just paperbacks with the covers torn off), some chunky shabby candle holders that someone made (I found in an antique mall for a steal), some small metal clock faces (which was a happy accident, to cover some big screw holes in the wall :), and an enamelware 'vase' that has a little spout on the bottom (I'm not sure what this is, but I suspect it's something to do with the bathroom-so I think I'll just stick with 'vase'-sounds better! If anyone knows, please tell me!)
Add some large rusty keys, and there's my living room mantel! Have a wonderful day!

Numbers and Letters and Words, Oh My!
The Home and Garden Tour that my home was included in yesterday was a huge success! It was a gorgeous day, and the turnout was fantastic! This vignette in my front entry/hallway was a favorite that many people commented on. I'm constantly changing this space around-it's an awkward little space on a curved wall-and nothing has ever seemed just right. It was actually my mom's idea to put the chair and the barrels together, and I just built on it from there. I'm really happy with how it came together! I love (ok, I'm obsessed) with any kind of typography and the combo of these items (hence numbers, letters, and words :) really appeals to me.
A lot of people were intrigued by my little collection of old fishing licenses. They're so tiny and cute! I've just bought them here and there and decided to group them in a little wooden bowl. I've always wanted these cash register numbers and finally purchased them on Etsy. I couldn't find anything the right size to put them in, when I remembered I had this rusty oil can...perfect fit!
Several people told me that they have an old printer's tray in their attic or basement and never thought to use it this way. I had fun finding tiny items around the house to display in the 'cubbies'!
Do any of you have an obsession with numbers, letters, and words? Enjoy the little bit that's left of this gorgeous weekend!

For The Love Of Ironstone
We all love adding to our collections, don't we? I have too many to mention! But here are 2 of my favorites...ironstone and old seltzer bottles. I know so many of us love ironstone-it's pretty easy to find, and usually fairly inexpensive. I've gathered mine in a cabinet that my dad made for me using barnwood and an old window/door. I love how grouping together some simple items can make such a statement!
What are some of your favorite collections? I'd love to hear from you!

Pallet Shelf
I feel very honored to be included in a Home and Garden Tour this Saturday; so, I can only give 'sneak peaks' of my house until the tour is over! (You know all the projects/cleaning that we all put off? Or is it just me? Well, this forced me and my poor hubby to 'git er done'! ) Here is another area of our sunroom...we practically live in here during the nice weather. One of my favorite items is this pallet shelf that my dad made me! There are so many possibilities for it, but for now I have it displaying some amateur canvas paintings that I found at a thrift store. My dad graciously made a couple more shelves that are available at our shop.
Well, I'm off to do more cleaning (aren't you jealous?)...have a great day!

New Finds
My mom and I are always on the hunt for treasures for our shop (and Etsy) which is so much fun but can be dangerous! A lot of times items intended for the shop end up in my house...ok, let's be honest-MOST of the time the items end up in my house! That's what happened when I spied this fun little metal and glass 'terrarium'. I couldn't resist playing around with different vignettes in it...so many possibilities! I started with a small book of old sheet music (Home Sweet Home is the name of our shop!) as a backdrop, then added a metal bird's nest that I found awhile ago at Arhaus. Why stop there? So I redid the whole vignette on top of a shabby bookcase in my sunroom...I gathered a few glass bottles together from different places in the house and grouped them on a white platter, then added a metal candelabra that was inside, and voila! I'm pretty happy with the results...for now :)
Have a wonderful night!

Welcome!
Welcome to my first official post! I decided to start with showing you a corner of my living room. I'm always changing things around in my house...this is my latest switch-up! I like the mix of rustic with a few feminine touches mixed in. I found this great heavy wooden piece at a local place that has a variety of vendors. I love it because it is so unusual! (It's missing the 2 bottom drawers so I just put in 2 random crates/boxes...I'm on the hunt for matching ones but these will do for now) As my hubby says, we'll just see how long this 'corner' stays this way!
Have a great night!
