Hello! Thank you all so much for your kind comments about my 'house tour' at From My Front Porch To Yours-you made my week! That's what I love so much about blogging...I can share my style with peeps who get me!
I'm continuing to freshen up my decor after the holidays.
You might remember my favorite little cabinet next to the fireplace...no one has ever figured out what it was originally used for, but I use it to store lots of my mags.
(Looks like I need to organize that bottom shelf, huh? :)
Well, it's now sportin' a new vignette.
(You can see it from Christmas time here.)
I'm trying to keep my decor lighter, as I did on my mantel, here.
So I left up the chicken wire barn wood window frame that I had put up for Christmas. Replacing the little Noel banner is a big clock face that I got at the cutest shop, Georgie Emerson Vintage in the fall.
I love the patina on this vintage oil can, and thought it would make a fun vase. I filled it with some faux hydrangeas and mixed in a couple of tiny banners that say 'Paris' and 'Bonjour'. I sat it on top of some old books for height.
Next I brought in my cream colored scale...
and placed a nest on it.
I gathered all of this onto a tarnished silver platter. I like the contrast of the silver against all the rustic chippiness.
The tray also ties into the silver pieces on the mantel.
So there you have it! The new vignette.
Here's a peek into the hallway, where I've changed some more things. I'll save that for another time!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a wonderful day :)
What a lovely vignette you have created.
ReplyDeleteIsn't changing things fun and aren't silver trays just the best?!
Have a great week!

I'm very fond of that nest on the scale. It's perfect -- and the colors remind me that spring can't be too far away, although here in Michigan it seems as though it will never come!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous vignette, Susan! Love the large clock face. I don't live too far from Polly's shop so I'm definitely going to have to make a little trip there soon!

ReplyDeleteHi Susan ! It is so great to shift furniture from one spot to another !! ( no cost decorating got to love that )
ReplyDeleteYour new vignette looks wonderful !!
I love that piece of furniture you're using there. I bet it was intended for the kitchen since it has the screen doors on the bottom. It makes me think of a pie safe or something used for baking. I like how you styled the top of it too.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan,
ReplyDeleteLove that piece and the cute vignette you created on top. Very cute. It all looks so wonderful.
Kris
Your vignette is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to keep things simpler this month.
You know I love everything you do because you have the best vintage stuff. Love the silver tray! I'm wondering if your little cabinet held vegetables because of the chicken wire and the way the two bottom drawers open? Just an uneducated guess. :-)

Hi Susan,
ReplyDeleteLove your vignette after the holidays look, your worn silver tray is perfect and I have one tucked away just like it :) I have always loved you beautiful junk as you call it. That chest of sorts has me baffled as well to what it is or was used for, and I wish I new what it was, pieces like these drive me crazy if I don't k ow its use. It appears to be a night chest and does not look like it was an add on with the open messed bottom. That bottom would have been for venting reasons with the mesh in place. When seeing this look you think of pie safe but of course pies would not be cooled that low to the floor. I want to say perhaps a chamber when homes did not have indoor pluming, and one would place the urnel pot in the bottom and the wash bowl in the cabinet, the bottom for venting. I have seen these with the vented cabinet much higher up never at the bottom?
I really wish I knew what this chest was for. In any case it holds a whole lot of charm and I can see why you have used it in your homes decor.
It would make an adorable piece in a Kitchen for storage of linens, and extra silver place settings.
You could pile silver trays in the bottom so they can be seen through the bottom mesh.
I hope when you find out what it is you let us all know? This pice will be on my mind looking to find another so I can report back to it use and what it is :)
Thank you Susan for taking the time to visit my place, it always joys my heart to see regular faces and blogging friends share with a comment of their liking.
Keep inspiring your beauty in all things junk-chic!
It's my kind of junk here.
Xoxo
Beautiful week to you.

ReplyDeleteHi Susan, I love the softness of your after Christmas decor......It's so warm and inviting! But I spy that big, beautiful wood rack on wheels?....GRABS my Heart! Have a warm and blessed week~~~Roxie
ReplyDeleteAnother darling vignette : ) Love the clock face and (still) love that cabinet! I really enjoyed the home tour over at Pamela's!
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, I love the new vignette! The clock face looks great with all of the rustic elements. I love and collect oil cans. Have one just like that one. Or at least very similar. Also have a cream scale that is one of my favs. That cabinet is fabulous what ever it was used for. Will go check out the home tour!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
I love the way you bring things together and using a stack of old books just puts it over the top for me! Enjoy your week my friend!
ReplyDeleteYou are so freakin creative, talented, and love the way you create your vignettes. I truly must of been standing behind you when God passed out "uniqueness". Oh the struggles we must bear!
ReplyDeleteWell this is all so easy on the eyes! Right where I'm at colorwise. You have such wonderful collections you can't go wrong, but you do have a wonderful way to display things.
