Goodbye Pumpkins, Hello Birdcage
Hi, everyone! I was ready to say 'goodbye' to my cute pumpkins that I've had out for awhile in my living room, but not quite ready to start on my Christmas decor. This is the fall vignette that I had under my barn wood shelf (which you can read about here)...
So I rummaged around in my basement, and decided to bring this rusty metal birdcage out of storage.
I shopped around my house again, and put together a little display. I knew that I wanted to use my sweet tiny Madonna, so I started there...
I laid down a piece of grassy moss, added a boxwood topiary...
...a shabby wicker bottle, and a few zinc pots laid on their sides...
...to form this simple vignette.
Here's the entire shelf and birdcage...
I pretty much kept the shelf displayed as it was, filled with small treasures...
And here's a view looking toward the hallway and my stack of suitcases...
It's kinda of leaning toward a spring look, but I figured that it's classic enough to get away with until I'm ready to haul out the Christmas goodies!
How 'bout you? Ready to start decorating for Christmas yet?
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day! :)

ReplyDeleteI love it all! :-) Love the colors, soft and muted, great stuff right there. Thanks for sharing with us, have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteYou always evoke an "oh, my" from me with your wonderful style!
ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteLove this. I love that birdcage how great is that. As I always say you are the queen of great vignettes. You never disappoint. Beautiful my friend.

What gorgeous photos -- your vignette is simply lovely! I, too, love to decorate. Halloween is down but I still have harvest things up through Thanksgiving. I'll start the Christmas decorating on Thanksgiving weekend. We will travel in early December and I want it done by then. It's pretty turn key -- always something new, but for the most part, there's only so much room for placement! My only concern this year is that last year when taking it down, I was so sick I never really got things put away properly -- which means finding things might be a bit of a challenge! Well, I love an adventure!
ReplyDeleteOh, I like it. It is adorable and I love everything you placed inside.

Beautiful job, as always. Love the birdcage vignette.
ReplyDeleteI love your new vignette. I like the little Madonna figurine and the small metal pots. I won't start decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving. So, I'm still using Fall décor right now. Your new vignette would look good any time of year!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty display, Susan! I think it would work for any season. I'm getting kind of excited to decorate for Christmas this year. We may even be able to celebrate the holiday in December like everybody else!
ReplyDeleteLove, Love, Love your rusty birdcage, Susan!!! And of course, it's styled to perfection as well as the wonderful shelf above it. I'm ready to put away my pumpkins too!

this vignette is simple (aka not overdone) and great for this time a year. swap out the pot for some ornaments, and you'll have a Christmasy vignette :) can't go wrong with neutrals
ReplyDeleteHow sweet is that birdcage. I love it. I got a really cool one from my moms place. Its green and old. Laid out in the yard for sometime. I really want to paint it white and use inside but kinda having a hard time doing it. Mom loved the green! Your thoughts. Love your pile of suitcases I have quite a few too!
ReplyDeleteI'll start the process of UNdecorating the fall and hauling down the Christmas next week. It takes a full week to put up the one and then decorate the other. Love seeing your pretty place!! Those suitcases are awesome peeking out at us!
ReplyDeleteThe bird cage looks wonderful and i love what you put in there.
ReplyDeleteHave a grea week.
Mary
So pretty!
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, Your birdcage is beautiful and I'm in love with your shelf as well. Your lovely tins and bottles collection looks awesome in there.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful that you took sweet little Bo in. He's such a cutie. Yes, kittens can be a handful sometimes but they are a lot of joy as well. Have fun with your sweet new family member!
Hugs,
Julia
It really looks great and I LOVE that birdcage. It is just perfect- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI ALWAYS love your decorating! It looks so awesome Julie. You transform things so easily from season to season. Thank you for sharing ideas with all of us!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Edie Marie
I love that birdcage, and I like your vignette very much.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Love those zinc pots! I think that your simple vignette is simply lovely!
ReplyDeleteAs for the Christmas decorating, well I am ready, but the house is not ready! Working on getting it like I want it before decorating.
Goodbye pumpkins is what I say too, Susan! Got rid of most of mine by using as wedding decor, :), and I'll pretty much be skipping right into Christmas. Love the look. I have a thing for Madonnas too, and boxwoods are always classy looking I think. The birdcage is the perfect framing.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Susan! Love that birdcage. I have one on a stand that I'd like to do something different with for Christmas this year. I've got loads of Christmas decorations so I'm sure I can come up with something. I'm in no particular hurry because I do have so much stuff. I don't always use all of it, but it is the matter of going through all those bins and boxes to see what I do want to use this year.
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing and now you have given me the inspiration I needed to come up with something large to hang on a vacant spot in my new living room. Mine isn't a bird cage but a hefty metal shelf that I am going to fill with objects similar to yours. Thanks for the inspiration and idea here. Yay !! When I get it on the wall, I'll let you know and link your post as inspiration.

What a great way to change out decorating items by the season. That birdcage is a true find .
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Sue
love the birdcage and that totally awesome shelf filled with totally awesome treasures!
ReplyDeleteSoooo pretty! I love how you decorated your shelves.
ReplyDeleteNice, but for some reason I would prefer some type of animal in place of the zinc pots--bird, deer, bunny,...not sure why.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Susan! The birdcage is adorable I love your shelf display. Thanks so much for joining the Open House party.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
That is beautiful Susan!
ReplyDeleteI am totally ready to decorate for Christmas, but I have to wait til the end of the month. We have plans to paint our LR/DR.
ReplyDelete*Smiles*
Love the birdcage!! I have several little bird figurines and have been looking at the flea markets for a birdcage to make a little vignette with them.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Cindy
Susan you always do such great vignettes. Love this birdcage and what you did is so very pretty!!!

Your rusty birdcage needs to be out all the time, I love it and the sweet treasures you put inside. I just finished fall decorating, can't even begin to think about Christmas yet.
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your bird cage/house thingy! I am attracted to house-shaped items, and the vignette inside yours is lovely.
ReplyDelete-Revi
Love it!
ReplyDeleteI adore the shelf filled with little treasures, it makes me happy. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little vignette and I love the shelf and all it's goodies above! I think it's nice to take a décor break between the holidays - it keeps things interesting! Christmas/ Well I'm ready to start decorating because it takes me so long to get everything done, but I need help this year, which is hard to get. Everybody loves it but nobody wants to work for it, well, except the little ones! I'll ate least get my pink tree up asap! I've been nursing an injured leg since June and dealing with inefficient doctors, so who knows! Wonder if I can cook a turkey in my bedroom? LOL! I'd better come up with a Plan B! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteLove it. Very charming.
ReplyDeleteYour birdcage looks great !!
ReplyDeleteLooking like Christmas around here , I could not wait !!!!!
Hugs
Susan, I love the bird cage! I think that they can work for a vignette for any season. I love the numbered cans too! I am super anxious to start decorating for Christmas. Trying to hold off for a bit longer. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
