There's a New Man (Cat) in Town
Hi, everyone! Hope you're having a good weekend!
I'd like to introduce you to the newest addition to our family!
Most of you know that about 2 months ago we lost our sweet cat Cole. I wasn't even thinking of getting another cat when Keith texted me a pic of this little guy!
Unbeknownst to me, he had gone to Petsmart on his lunch hour and they had a pet rescue organization there with kitties. He was immediately smitten with one 10 month old kitten and texted me pics with 'what do you think?' Well, how could I say no to that little face? So a couple of days later, we brought him home!
(I think the term for that is 'softies'-ha!)
Look at this next picture and see if you notice anything unusual...
He doesn't have a tail!
Apparently his breed is American Bobtail, and they don't have tails...which looks kinda weird! What's also funny is that he looks a lot like our other cat, Bob, before her ears 'fell'. Now we have 2 little 'misfits'! This is Bob...
(who many of you may remember from this post!)
On the way to pick him up we kept going over names and still hadn't decided on one. (Get this: the name on his cage was 'Lil Bob'!! We certainly couldn't have 2 'Bobs'!)
We drove there in the rain, and right when we got there the sun came out and we saw this...
"Let's call him Rainbow" I said jokingly and Keith said "Well, how about just Bo?" And we both liked it and thought it fit him, so that's his name! It was like a sign :)
As you can see he's VERY well fed now, and has made himself quite at home.
I'll admit that it's been a bit of an adjustment...we're used to older, calmer cats, and Bo is ALL kitten! He has so much energy, and sometimes he's a handful, but overall he's a little sweetie.
(Although I don't think Bob is a big fan, yet. Bo is infatuated with her and follows her around like a little shadow!)
Of course I still miss Cole, and I always will, but now there's a new little guy around to make us smile.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a wonderful day!
Awww! What a sweetie!
ReplyDeleteI miss having a kitty or 2.
Have a great week.
Congratulations on your new kitty!! He is adorable!!
ReplyDeleteBo is precious and I know you will have fun with him.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about Cole. I must have missed that...it's so hard to lose a pet and I agree, it takes a little time but you always have room in your heart! Bo looks like he has a forever home! He's so cute! I love kitties but half of us here are allergic to them. That's funny about the tail but it makes him very unique! Have fun with your two little buddies! :)
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Aww Bo is adorable - love how you chose his name:)
ReplyDeleteWell I think that Bo is a cutie! I think that's sweet that your husband secretly stopped to look at cats. I'm sure you will have many years of happiness with him.
ReplyDeleteWhat a charmer! I always think the best way to honor a pet U miss so much is to give another deserving animal a loving home. That is what I have done. I had 4 & the 2 older died a year apart, leaving me with 2 & the house seemed empty. I have rescued 2 more, 3 years apart. The house feels full again. Congrats & thanks for loving another homeless cutie! Mary
ReplyDeleteBo is so cute and it's nice that you rescued it. Our Calico cat just has a stub for a tail, which seems to make her look chubbier than she really is. Funny that you posted this since about a week ago a tiny little black kitty showed up at our house. My daughter went out to the Shop to feed our other cats one morning and said something jumped down from the food when she walked in. We didn't know what it was and had noticed something was getting into their food because it was licked clean every morning(which wasn't normal) The next day she saw it again and said"Mom, I'm pretty sure it's a black cat". The next day I was looking out the window and saw the little guy running from the woods to the Shop and told her to go out and see if it would come to her. I think she sat out there for almost three hours, but it finally came up to her and has been the friendliest thing ever since...not sure our other cats are very happy, but we certainly are! It was weird that it just showed up right around Halloween and we have no idea were it came from.
ReplyDeleteSorry for such along comment....

Good for you! And, of course, great for Bo. I love it when people rescue animals! I know Bo will never replace Cole but it really gives you something to keep your mind busy.

I believe the rainbow was a "sign" that you were making the right decision! Of course you can never replace Cole, but loving another is always good!
ReplyDeleteBo is gorgeous! I love his coloring. I hope he brings you many years of joy.

Bo is a perfect name. I love your little "misfits". I hope Bob comes around.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie...and I so love the name "Bo"...Such a pretty addition to your family!...I am sure Cole would have loved Bo..
ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteBo is such a cutie. Bob will come around she just needs time to adjust a youngster in the house!! I love that Keith found him for you and you guys are making a beautiful little life for him. He is blessed to have you for his family.
Kris
long life to Bo the cat. I have personally never seen a cat without a tail...until just now. He looks so sweet
ReplyDeleteOh, Susan, you will always miss Cole and love him to pieces forever. But I think Bo has already wormed his way into your heart. He is simply adorable. As one who is fond of the feline, I have to say that Lizzie Cosette came into my life about a year ago, an "unwed mother," no doubt dumped and found with her kittens by a friend in an abandoned garage. She was about the same age as Bo. She's nothing like sweet Gypsy, a huggy boy-cat who lived for lap time. But she is her own personality and I love her to pieces. Bo has a fine name! I can't wait to hear more on how it goes! (And thanks for following Marmelade Gypsy. I am delighted to return the follow!)
ReplyDeleteBo is so cute!! Love how he got his name. Bob will come around soon and they will be best buddies. So glad that Bo has found his forever home with you.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Cindy
He's so adorable!!! He looks a lot like our cat. We got her for Christmas, for the first time in years I decided it was time to get a pet. We LOVE her!! Congrats!! ;)
ReplyDeleteYay! Bo is the perfect name - I like how you guys came up with that. I think he's just what you guys needed, and he needed y'all, too. XOXO
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful story.
ReplyDeleteSooo exciting! I am a kitty lover (I have 2 as well) so I love seeing other people giving kitties home. Look at his puppy-dog eyes in the picture of him by the window. Looks kind of like Puss in Boots from Shrek!
ReplyDeleteHe is so lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos!
Have a nice day, RW & SK
Darling, darling, darling. You are gonna love that sweet baby to bits! My daughter also has a cat that looks very very similar with no tail. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteAw, he's adorable! Congratulations on your new family, little Bo <3
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetie. I wouldn't have been able to resist that face either. He certainly has made himself right at home, I bet he cant believe his luck in being adopted by you.
ReplyDeleteSusan I am so happy that you have Bo! No he won't take Cole's place in your heart because that special place belongs to Cole alone. Bo already has his place in your heart and it looks like in your home too. Didn't take him long to settle in! He looks happy, loved and satisfied!
ReplyDeletehe's darling! love his name and that pic of him on that great wagon thingy:) (my son has a tailless cat named nubs-ha!
ReplyDeletesweet story Susan! Your hubby is definitely a keeper! And Bo's a cutie. I love that he is "quirky" with the no tail thing. I tend to gravitate towards towards the "interesting" animals too! Lol. Congrats on your new kitty!
ReplyDeleteBless you for rescuing an animal that needed a home. I would love to have a cat, but these pupsters would torment one. I love reading about your kitties!
