Thank You

I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for your outpouring of empathy and support over the post on Cole.  Reading all of your comments was so emotional as I was overwhelmed with your kindness.
It's been a very rough, painful week, but I'm slowly starting to feel better.

In spite of everything, I still managed to have a good time in Columbus with my friend Suzanne. I want to thank her for her understanding as I definitely wasn't at the top of my game socially, emotionally, or physically.  However, we still got in some fabulous shopping (is anyone surprised? ;) and I'll be sharing more of that in a future post.

Meanwhile, I want to give a HUGE thank you to 2 people.  First of all, to Kris from Junk Chic Cottage.
Kris and I started blogging around the same time, and as soon as we 'found' each other we had an immediate connection.  That connection has developed over the past year through daily emails, numerous texts and phone calls and even meeting in person this past June.  She has become a dear friend, so I texted her to tell her about Cole, and within days I received an incredible package from her to cheer me up!

How thoughtful is that!  I couldn't believe that she found a no. 3 basket!  Those of you who have followed me for awhile may have noticed that 3 is my favorite number!  She had the basket filled with goodies...a soothing CD, the latest edition of Shabbilicious Magazine (which is amazing, btw!), this adorable tin filled with greenery...

...which I placed inside of my chippy frame in the hallway...

...a couple of sweet little white pumpkins (the 2 on the trophies)...

...and a stack of postcards with fun pictures of wonderful 'junk'...

...of which I placed a few on my chicken wire window...

And back to that fun basket...

It has a new home on a little bench by our couch.  I simply added a couple of topiaries to it, and placed it next to a fun pumpkin I just got at one of the cutest shops, Georgie Emerson Vintage.

I just love everything-it really brightened my day receiving this package! So a big heartfelt thank you to Kris for being so incredibly thoughtful during this sad time!!

The second person I want to thank is my mom.  She is my closest friend and always knows just how to make me feel better when I'm down.  She came over one day to cheer me up, bearing my favorite gourmet salty caramels and these sweet little things she knew I would love...

Aren't these mugs and spoons the cutest??

I know that I can use them, but I love the way they look like this, so I think I'll keep them displayed for awhile.
I just wanted to share these thoughtful sweet surprises that were the little bright spots in my otherwise sad week.

Thank you also to my hubby for being by my side through all of the depressing details, to my dad  (he knows for what), to my local friends who consoled me, to Pam at Moments Like These who sent me a fun package of goodies for no reason (on the very day that I had to say goodbye to Cole-and she didn't even know)  and for all of you, my blogging friends!  I cherish  your comments and compassion!
On to brighter, happier things in my next post as I recap my Country Living adventure...until then, have a wonderful day! :)

  8. Ya just gotta love that Kris. I adore her and wish we lived closer. I think we would get in a lot of troub....er...I mean...have a really great time together. (along with you-if you promise to behave). Your Mom's gift is beautiful, too.

If someone has never truly loved a pet they have no idea what it is like to lose one-the finality of that small sweet spirit not being part of your daily life anymore. I lost my Misty three years ago and I know (it is awful of me) I don't think I will ever have another kitty. I don't think I could go through that loss again. Have a wonderful night- xo Diana

  15. Kris is the best. When I retired, she sent me a fantastic retirement basket out of the blue. You are so lucky that you got to meet up in person. I keep telling her that one day I will show up and then I will insist that I get to meet you also.

    Enjoy your treasures from Kris.

I know from experience, that you will always miss Cole, so I hope each day gets easier for you.

  16. Hi Susan,
Sorry I am late to my own thank you!!!! It has been a busy day. I am just getting to my computer. I felt so badly for you when you lost Cole so I knew this basket would help to take your mind off of losing Cole. I was excited to find the #3 basket too. I am just sorry you are having to grieve the loss of Cole so I am happy this treat brought you some smiles and hugs since I cannot be there in person. Your mom's spoons so cute. Your mom is the best. Love you girlfriend so happy you love your surprise.

  17. What great goodies from Kris and your mom! Aren't blogging sister's just the best! And of course...mom's are the best ever!!
We thought about going to the Country Living Fair...I missed going last year too, but it is one of my favorite shows. Trying to decide if I want to go to the huge Flea Market here in town this coming weekend or go to a show that I want to check out to see if I want to do it next year.
A few years ago...our Yorkie-Po got so sick and we had to let him go and it was such a hard thing to do. I still miss him as I know you will always miss Cole too. My heart breaks for you and I'm saying a prayer that each day gets a little easier for you.
    hugs,
    Cindy

All your decor looks marvelous as usual, too. {The pumpkins in the trophies are my fave.} I meant to leave you a comment on the post about Cole, but I want you to know I was praying for you. I know someday you'll reunite, though this time is incredibly difficult. So sorry, girl.
