I want to thank all of you who left the sweetest comments regarding my 'Love Story' post. It's not easy for me to open up about my personal life (especially the 'sensitive' things) so your encouraging words meant so much to me!
Since it's Valentine's Day I thought it would be a perfect time for my first ever giveaway! My friend Carol recently surprised me with this charm that she made for me...isn't it the BEST??
Every time that I wear it, people notice it and I get compliments! Carol not only makes jewelry, but she's a goddess with a sewing machine...we joke that she's my personal seamstress because I'll see something that I love, then I'll ask her to make it for me-and she happily obliges! She's made me the cutest pillows, cafe curtains, even my bed skirt! She'll soon be opening an Etsy shop, so then all of you can shop her goodies too, but for now I asked her to make this charm for one of my special readers to win!
Isn't it fun? I hope that you love it as much as I do! All you have to do to enter is become a follower through Google Friend Connect (on my sidebar) and then leave a comment telling me what your favorite piece of (good) junk is! It can be big or small...a flea market find, an heirloom, a collection, something with a special story behind it...it doesn't matter, as long as you love and cherish it. This contest will be open for comments until next Thursday the 21st (an entire week.)
I have a LOT of junk that I love, but this has to be one of my all time favorite pieces.
I LOVE it Susan - if this is open to Canada I would love a chance to win it!
ReplyDelete( if not I GET it - I just shipped a giveaway to the States and it's not cheap :(

ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great give away. I can't wait to see your friends stuff on Etsy!!! How exciting for her. I am always in awwww of anyone that can sew.
I have a lot of fav pieces but my most favorite would be an antique lace pillow with a pocket I have with the wedding picture of my grandparents and I have a charm bracelet and watch of my grandparents also on the pillow. With both of them gone the pillow, watch and charm braclet just lets me hold onto such wonderful memories of both of them. Happy Valentines Day my friend.

Hi Susan,
ReplyDeleteYour handmade cabinet is just lovely! Your Dad did a fantastic job of building it for you - a real treasure. Happy Valentine's Day to you.
oh my, great giveaway! and pick my favorite??? That is hard, but I think it might be a WW1 ammo box- it is in near perfect shape with an amazing patina and the most exquisite dado joints. I saw another in horrible shape once, for sale for $20- it was so dilapidated, the man did not believe me when I told him the condition of mine- or that I bought it for $2 at a garage sale where the people did not know what it was!!!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Susan,
ReplyDeleteI love your giveaway! Can't wait for Carol to open her etsy. Please remind us when she does. Well I follow you of course.. As I have shared with you I lost my mother a little over three weeks ago today being Valentine's Day reminds me of the love for her. Right now my favorite pieces are the ones she gave me. I hold them dearly. She gave me her mothers ironstone pitcher and bowl.. It is one of the things on my list of favorites.. Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! I love give always! As for me, my favorite piece of junk has to be an old ink well and a snuff can that was used as a baby rattle for my grandfather. My great-grandmother put the ink well in the snuff can and he would shake it. Just one of my favorite treasured pieces. I am sharing vintage Valentine's Day cards today. Stop by for a visit!

I was a lover of "junque" when it wasn't even fashionable! I'm probably most in love with the vintage scale I found last year.. I had been looking for one for several years before I found this. It's a versatile piece that I like to use when I create my vignettes. I love your fun piece- items like this are even more special when made with love. :-) Thanks for offering such a fun give-away.
ReplyDeleteI love that cabinet! And I love that necklace! My favorite piece was given to me by my mom. It was my great aunt's silverware box. The box is not very big and it is felt lined on the inside. The outside is old and the color is a weathered blue gray. And I cherish it! Have a lovely day Susan!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for a great giveaway. I love all sorts of "junk". My favorite is when I find a piece of furniture alongside the road. I recently found a Gibbard walnut vanity... couldn't believe they were throwing it away! Enjoy reading your blog and looking at all your fabulous junk!
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway, Susan! I have so many favorite, what some would call junk pieces, but I guess I'd have to go with one of my old chippy doors.

ReplyDeleteOne single piece of 'junk' that I love? oh. my. how do I pick just one?! I think right now I would have to say it's my antique linens and grain sacks. Loveing them so much!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm jealous of you glove molds this time! I've been wanting some!
I adore my "junk" [and yours too] I rescued an old Hoosier cupboard from my in laws garage - it was going to the dump. It is restored and in my kitchen- Love it! and an old trunk that was my husband's grandmother's.... My Mr. calls most of my "finds" - your old junk :) LOVE JUNK!!!!

ReplyDeleteI love it. What a perfect way to warn the world that you're a junker. I'm already a happy GFC follower.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite treasures (can't really it junk) is my bedroom set that belonged to my grandparents when they first got married. I'd never part with it or any treasure that belonged to a family member. Another favorite is a painting my grandmother painted of her home where I visited as a child.
Your cabinet is perfect for displaying all your wonderful pieces of fabulous "junk". It's so hard to choose a favorite piece of junk but one of my favorites is an antique folding typewriter that I found in a thrift store. I love it and I love that necklace too. I am a GFC follower already.
ReplyDeleteDanielle
My favorite junk is an old wrought iron birdcage that I use in the kitchen to store my blue and white dishes! I'm a proud follower of your gorgeous blog.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Patti
Oh yes I love junk too, I just did a junking post myself! Love your giveaway, Di@Cottage-Wishes.
ReplyDeleteFun necklace!! Hmmm...so hard to decide, but I think my favorite find is a recent one. I just bought a cool table made from a big huge coffee crate with spindle-y legs love it!! Thanks for the chance to win...already a very happy follower :) Laurel
ReplyDeleteI love your necklace and especially love the cabinet your father and mother built together for you. So sweet.
ReplyDeleteI started following you. One of my fav pieces of junk is a big old pot I found at a sale that I use for my canning.
ReplyDeleteI follow you on GFC as Adrianne Braun. My favorite piece of junk is a piece from the installation "Relics" by Detroit artists Scott Hocking and Clinton Snider. It's an arrangement of old Towne Club bottles in a 2' x 2' box. adriannebraun at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteIt's too hard to pick a favourite. I would say that my fave would be the newest treasure I find. When I bring something new home I have to just sit and look at it for a while until I bring something new (old) home again and that becomes my fave. Love your blog. I have added your blog to my blog faves on pinterest.....keep junkin :)
ReplyDeleteI quickly became a follower...that part was easy! Now trying to decide which piece of junk is my favorite...not so easy. I have a tiny chair/bed spring that I have had for years. I consider selling it from time to time, but I just cannot bear to part with it. It's hung in every room of this old house. My second favortie old junk is that old Cat Daddy of mine...and yeah...I can't part with him either!
ReplyDeleteLove your cabinet and all the white it takes care of.
