Simple Spring Mantel
Hi, everyone! It seems like I've been changing my mantel almost as much as I change my...mind! Hey, it's a woman's prerogative, right? I'm a little late to the party, but I finally added some touches of spring to my mantel. (Here is what it looked like before.) Keepin' it simple, as always...
I dug this little bunny out of my basement (are you sensing a pattern here with me shopping in my basement?) The urn, grass and eggs came from a display in our shop-they were too cute, so I had to 'borrow' them-occupational hazard!
This great Wabash stoveboard was scored recently. About 2 weekends ago it was sunny and finally a little bit warmer, so Keith and I bundled up and ventured out to the first outdoor flea market of the season. I was so happy to find this! I love the rustic boards and the print/graphics.
I added a couple mercury glass candlesticks and topped my silver urns with big moss balls (also just discovered in my basement!)
I kept up my little 'no hunting' sign, and that's it...simple!!
I appreciate you all stopping by so much! Have a wonderful weekend! :)

My Latest Score
(I want to thank Angie at Knick of Time for featuring this post!)
Hope you're all doing great! I have to share a fabulous, unique treasure that I just found last weekend! I've never seen anything like this-in person, at least. There's a local shop that sells mostly primitives, but I pop in occasionally and I sometimes find cool items that can be mixed in with my decor. Well, I spotted this and ran right over to nab it!
It's some kind of gigantic flashcard! It's made out of heavy cardboard, and this baby is BIG (like 31'' x 21'') The owner said that it came out of a school house in Poland! I looked up the words and sure enough, they're written in Polish. ("Here is a hand. This is my dad's hand..." etc.) The other side has a different picture and writing, too, but I liked this side the best. I just think it's SO fun! She said they had several, but the others sold and this was the last one...lucky for me!
After trying it in a couple of places, I ended up hanging it in the living room where this little shelf used to be. That change inspired me to restyle the top of the small card-catalog cabinet that is underneath it...you know, the decorating domino effect!
I dug this silver candleabra out of my basement-I had totally forgotten about it, its been stored down there so long! I grouped together a few other goodies on a heavy silver tray, and voila-instant new look!
This now gives a whole different vibe, and I'm happy with it! I love to add some 'playfulness' to my decor, and I think that this huge flashcard does the trick! Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a fantastic weekend :)

I'm Cow Crazy
Hi, everyone! I'm usually not too 'trendy' in my decor, but sometimes something will keep cropping up in blog land or on Pinterest, and it really grabs me. Well, I've been seeing a lot of cows (and any farm animal, really) everywhere, and I'm lovin' them! So I've officially joined the cow craze! ;)
It seems that whenever I decide that I want a certain item, all of a sudden I see it everywhere when I'm shopping...does that happen to you? So in the last couple of weeks, I've purchased several cow things. I found this canvas print at a local antique store, and I love the muted color tones.
For now he's residing in my dining room. This next little guy was too cute to pass up!
Isn't he adorable? It's just a little ceramic head with a hole in the back for hanging!
He's really too small for this space beside my barn wood cabinet (also in my dining room) but I was just trying different areas to see where I like him best. I haven't decided yet.
This next guy just straight up makes me laugh!
Our cat Cole (who I recently posted about here) walks around with his tongue sticking out a lot, so Keith and I were amused by this picture. (FYI, Cole's eye is nothing serious, thank God! He's on eye drops twice a day to try and clear up the inflammation though, so he's not liking me very much right now!)
Sorry to digress from cow to cat...but I hung this picture in the upstairs bathroom that Keith uses. He can enjoy it when he's getting ready in the morning.
I found one more cow piece, but I'm saving that for later, until I find the perfect spot for it. How 'bout you? Have you joined the cow craze yet?
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

More Office Tweaking
Hope you all had a great weekend! In my last post I showed you the built-in bookcases on one side of our office, and how I've styled (and restyled) them. Now I'm showing you the other side of the room.
Again, I just gathered together some of my favorite 'quirky' items and played around with different ways to display them.
The little silver teapot came from the 'surprise' flea market in Tucson. I love the intricate detail and monogram, plus it was such a fantastic bargain I couldn't pass it up! I added a couple of flowers made out of old patterns to it.
I scored this old chippy scale at the local flea market a couple of years ago-love the patina! It's SO heavy, and one of my favorite finds.
This small silver creamer is another unbelievable bargain that I got in Arizona! It came from a fun shop in Phoenix, and I just added some paper ephemera to jazz it up a little.
I love the look of old battery jars. I had never come across one before, so I was excited when I found this at a local antique store. I filled it with little vintage books and a faux birds nest.
This rustic wooden 'box' holds some paperwork and office supplies. I tried to add at least a little practicality!
I kept the top shelves the same with several clear magazine holders (which are organizing just a fraction of my magazines!) and my collection of locker baskets going the whole way across.
The last bookcase is filled with...BOOKS! Imagine that! :) I'm definitely a decor book (and magazine) addict so this gives me easy access when I want to browse for some inspiration!
Here is a view of the whole wall and the doorway into the front hall.
There you have it! You've now seen all the newly styled office bookcases. Like I said before, they may not stay that way for long because I'm constantly tweaking them but for now this room is good to go!
Thanks so much for stopping, and have a wonderful day!
