I want to thank all of you for your kind comments and congratulations regarding my Vintage Style Magazine spread! I appreciate all of your support so much!
A couple of posts ago I showed you my new 'cubby thing' in the corner of our sunroom, here.
I've been making a lot of changes to the sunroom, so now I'll show you the opposite corner of the room.
My mom gave us this wing back chair awhile back. She bought it new years ago, and it's in great shape and very comfy, but has an outdated striped fabric. I had a store-bought slipcover on it for some time, but the fit was sloppy, so I finally got around to having a custom cover made in a neutral canvas fabric.
I'm pleased with how it turned out!
I added a vintage grain sack and new pillow to jazz it up a little.
I crudely covered a little footstool that I had with a piece of ticking, and I think it makes a nice pairing.
A shabby little bookcase fits nicely in the narrow space behind/beside the chair.
Of course, I've loaded it with goodies, and you can see that I've continued to add more soft blues and greens to this room.
Most of these items are recent flea-market finds, purchased at unbelievable prices!
Such as, the pretty colored glass bottles...
...this unique old bucket (which I don't know what it is, but I love!)...
...the charming iron planter (which I filled with softly hued eggs)...
...and this cool weathered ammo box...
Gotta love the flea!
I added a few other things that I had...
...and to complete the look, above the bookcase I hung a large frame with some old flashcards, and placed a lamp that gives a soft glow at night.
And now I think this all makes for a happy, summery corner...
...where I enjoy reading or perusing Pinterest on the iPad...
That is, if Bo isn't hogging it!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a fantastic day! :)

I just love the shelf with the blue can and the rocking bunny. Everything looks perfect together.
ReplyDeleteMy dated wing chair would love to be slipcovered like yours! I love the new look and all the flea market finds you've used to decorate that corner of the room. I wish we had a flea market nearby!
ReplyDeleteYour chair with a change is perfection. I love the style of this new slipcovered chair. Your room is lovely and very serene.

I LOVE your chair! Bo is adorable! Can I come over for tea and look through your home....please?! xoxo Jen
ReplyDeleteBo looks so comfy...how nice of you to make a purrfect spot for him to lounge & take cat naps!
ReplyDeleteYour chair slipcover looks so pretty and very comfortable, Susan. Love your finds; I especially love that little bunny! How cute is that. The iron planter is very pretty and looks wonderful filled with the eggs. The colors of the eggs work great, too.
ReplyDeleteSusan, I like your chair, but I love all the little touches - the grain sack, the ticking on the stool. and that tiny rocking rabbit - oh my! He's so cute!! Love the cotton spools of thread in the basket too. The ammo box is perfect. Nice job - I like all your changes!
ReplyDeleteI love it, it fits perfectly into your space now. Nothing better than slips.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving that shabby chest, Susan -- and the bunny! To die for! The eggs and jars give it such a nice bit of color. And BO is BEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteLove the chair. I haven't even been able to find a good slipcover source for my good-bones-but-ratty-fabric wing chair. Where did you find yours? I was going to have it reupholstered but the cost was prohibitive on my budget. Yours looks tremendous!
The pops of turquoise and yellow make this room shine. Love the "curl-up" chair for reading. Obviously Bo does too.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this cozy corner of your sun room. The chair looks so comfortable and your treasures on the shelf are so fresh and summery!!
ReplyDeleteAnother magazine-worthy post. How I LOVE your greens & blues. And that little bunny rocker. All of it is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
xoxo,
Lin

ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday! Well doesn't that wonderful chair look cozy and inviting to snuggle into it with a good book. I always am happy to see pets featured in blog shots, being a mom to 2 it warms my heart, but Susan how incredibly long your kitty's tongue is! LOL ... Ya know it's gonna be said again ... Girl you rock the vignette. Loving the soft restful blues and greens you have been adding and OMGosh I love the pillow on the chair.
XO,
Vera
Thank you Susan for stopping by and reminding with your beautiful comment that I need to stop in on you. Don't you just love when you can take a hand me down chair and then cover it giving it a totally new look? The new slip cover is great and nesting the chair in the corner with all the little flea finds adds so much charm to the room. I also love that the chair and book case is backed up to a wall of wood siding so much flea market cottage charm here. Keep inspiring Susan it's so much of what we love about you :)

Well, what freakin flea markets do you shop at? You might as well just hand me your chair and the entire reading corner, seriously I want it. Especially the blue can, what a gorgeous color blue. All the varying shades of blue and breaking my heart their at your house and not mine, {-{
ReplyDeleteThe perfect comfy cozy spot! Love the blue accents and all the treasures tucked in the shelves.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Patti

Congratulations on your magazine feature! I'm bummed they said your store was in Columbus instead of North Canton. I used to live in North Canton and just got home today from a visit with my MIL in Massillon. Had I known you were in N. Canton I would have definitely stopped. I'm sure there will be another visit in the near future so I will put you on my to-do list.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Susan! It's exciting to see our blogging buds get recognition for their beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteI love this little corner. Bo has excellent taste.
A HUGE congratulations on your feature Susan - so well deserved - and just love your slip covered chair ( I'm in the process of having slip covers made for my couch and chair - went with a tailored look - but now I'm wondering if I shouldn't have went with the skirt too !!! )
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend
Hugs,
SUzan
