The Big Picture

Hi, everyone!  Hope you're having a great weekend!
I love using old vintage picture frames as wall art.  They have a beauty and simplicity that I'm drawn to.  And of course, the shabbier the frame the better!
Sometimes I layer them as I've recently done on my dining room wall...

(Remember this little guy? He used to be all by his lonesome.)

Sometimes I hang an object inside them...usually something quirky, like this old whisk broom...

I've grouped this together with some other 'abstract objects' on my hallway wall...

Sometimes I might hang a picture inside...

 ...or add a wreath...

...like I've done here in my sunroom...

Maybe I'll attach a favorite word...

...or use the frame to literally 'frame' a vignette like I've done here ...

...in our bedroom...

...and here in our 2nd floor guest bathroom...

...I might just 'frame' a single object, like this clock...

I've even been known to hang them all by themselves, left empty, like we've done at our shop...

Well, I think you "get the picture"...I love frames!  :)
Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

I'm sharing this at these great parties:  Knick of Time

  2. I always love the look of the negative space within a frame...but painting them pink and adding tiny cow is just too adorable! Now I'm on the hunt for a ceramic animal head! You're a genius.

  3. when I had my first apt in 1987 I decorated my walls with empty frames. Family thought I was nuts, but look at the trend now. I was so far ahead of the game back then and didn't even know it. Love what you do with yours, thanks for re-inspiring me.

  13. Oh Susan . . . you got me with this post! I have a bit of a love affair with frames and you have some really amazing ones. The vignettes you've put together with them are fantastic! I will be pinning for future inspiration. Now . . . do I keep the frames I'm preparing for market or do I sell them? Ack! So happy to be a follower of yours. Blessings, Patti

  14. Susan, I just adore what you have done with these frames. Truth be told I never thought of doing this but now my mind is ticking for our new home. I should be posting some updated news finally this week! My favorites are the one with the hydrangeas. They are so beautiful and the one with topiary. I am also a fan of ornate frames.

  20. Ditto. Frames are one of my favorite accessories, too. And you know I love your cute little cow in the center of all the graduated sizes! I have his brother down here in Texas...now my lonely little brother is gonna want a cute set of graduated white shabby frames too! Sibling rivalry...

We seem to have some things in common....wire,metal and old frames (and I'm not talking about our bodies, lol!) Blessings and a wonderful week~~~Roxie
