Merry Christmas To Me!
Good morning, everyone! I hope that you had a great Christmas!
I haven't been around much because Keith and I got hit with a nasty bug, and I've been trying to rest and recover from it.
I managed to snap a few pics of a Christmas gift that I bought myself.
My mom and I went to an antique mall a couple of days before Christmas.
When I spotted this statue tucked behind some things on the floor of a booth, my heart started beating faster!
I was taken with her beauty.
I have quite a growing collection of smaller white Madonnas, but this is the first large one that I've come across.
It's hard to tell from these pics, but she's pretty big (over 2 feet tall!) and unbelievably heavy!!
My mom and I had to laugh that she is blue...after avoiding blue all these years, now it seems that all my 'must-haves' lately are blue!
(As I showed you in my last post, here.)
I also bought this bluish-gray cabinet that same day, but I'm not sure if I'm keeping it or if it's going to my shop. (I've started taking down my Christmas decor, and I'm changing a lot of things around.)
It's a great color and has a zinc top, which I love.
So...Merry Christmas to me! :)
I wish you all a happy, blessed New Year!

Your Madonna is beautiful, Susan! And the blue cupboard looks like a keeper, too. I hope you're feeling better soon. I was hit with two bugs over Christmas, and I'm wiped out. Here's to healthier days ahead in the new year!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful!!! Love that cabinet too! We DO love our 'junk!' (aka TREASURES!!!!)
ReplyDeleteShe is a great find. I love the blue. I like that you buy yourself gifts. it's the best way to get what you want. I stay away from stores and shops before Christmas because I see too many things I want to buy for me, hah.
DeleteShe is lovely and something you will enjoy for years to come! Blessings my friend.
ReplyDeleteHope you are on the mend! We've been sick too. I didn't even get to go to Christmas this year! BOO!!! Take care and rest up!! Best wishes in 2014!!!
ReplyDeleteYour Madonna is lovely and I am happy that she is keeping you on your path toward color.
ReplyDeleteThe bug has run through our family also - 2 days per person. My husband got cheated out of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Our son should be up and running today and our daughter has been saved so far, but today should be her day if the pattern follows.
Happy New Year
Hope you are all
A beautiful find!
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon. The bug hit my daughter's house also.
Have a great weekend.
Hoping your feeling better now. You would of loved my parents statue place. They have an area of Madonna's.. It was sure a fun place and magical for kids to go. I remember when my dad started it, it was crazy he had news stations and the local paper coming to film him and take pictures... Love the blue.. Hope your feeling better by now!
ReplyDeleteShe's beautiful! Too funny about the blue too. I've already taken down my Christmas decor inside too. The outside is still decorated though which I don't mind. I just needed a clutter free home again. I can only take it so long. LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou picked yourself up a beautiful gift. Hope you feel better soon it seems that nasty bug is going around everywhere.
ReplyDeletewhat a fabulous find--she's a beauty, susan! happy new year to you and your husband!
ReplyDeleteYour Madonna is beautiful. What is she made of? I see some painting in your future.

We have plenty of those in Italy, but I guess they are not very common here. Hope you are on the mend
ReplyDeleteHope you and your hubby are feeling much better. Love the beautiful Madonna! Yes, you are certainly on a roll with blue :)
ReplyDeleteWow, Susan...she's huge! Great find, especially right before Christmas. Happy New Year to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteShe is stunning! Absolutely gorgeous and in wonderful condition considering that she is probably 50 years or more old! Not sure what religion you are, but being Catholic, I remember these large statues always stood on wall shelves on either side of the alter. One was always of Mary in her traditional blue clothing (sorry about that LOL) and the other was normally Jesus or perhaps a Saint that the church was named for. Some were as many as four feet in height I haven't noticed them in newer churches of late, possibly because of their more modern architecture where the alter is in the center so there are no walls nearby to hang the shelves on. You have a true find there, lucky you! Diggin' the cabinet as well! Hope all are feeling better now! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I love blue, but then I probably like every color in the rainbow!

Susan,
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful. What a wonderful find. I love her angelic face and pretty paint. Gorgeous. Love her size too you do not come across the bigger Madonna's very often. So she is a great score. Hope you feel better soon. Stay warm and cozy and feel better.

Nice. I love blue. One of my favorite colors are blue.
ReplyDeleteThe statue is gorgeous. Is it made of concrete? I'm so sorry you were under the weather. It's horrible being sick at Christmas. I hope you are fully recovered soon.

Love your Madonna...she is beautiful!! Love the blue cupboard too!! Hope you feel better soon. I've been slowing taking my Christmas decor down and I want to do some redecorating in my living room and dining room.

Cindy
A lovely Madonna, so beautifully serene in her blue robes! Hope you are feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, I can see why you fell in love with her. I am sure you are not putting her away.
ReplyDeleteBob and I are fighting a nasty bug as well. I am on the computer because I can't breath when I am lying down. I hope you guys feel better fast.

What a beautiful gift for YOU!! We need to do that more often! I vote for keeping the chest. The zinc top is awesome! Go with your feeling on the blue. I have always avoided using red as much as possible at Christmas time, I'm not big on primary colors, but this year I just let it flow. Sometimes we just feel the change coming from our hearts instead of our minds.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon. I hurt my back somehow and this is the first time I've been able to sneak out of bed in 2 days! ;-)
XO,
Jane
Merry Christmas, Susan. Your gift to you is simply beautiful -- a real treasure you will love forever.
