Winter Mantel

(Thank you to One More Time Events and Knick of Time for featuring this post!)

Hi, everyone!  I just got the last of my Christmas decorations down as I'm finally starting to feel better.

After enjoying all of the holiday decor around my home since November, I was anxious to put it all away and start with a fresh, clean slate.

I decided to start with my mantel.  I wanted a lighter look so I kept up the chippy white door that I had up for my Christmas mantel, here.

On one end I placed this worn, enamel pitcher...

...and filled it with dried pussy willows...

Then I hung this dried lavender wreath that I got last year on the door as a focal point...

Next I added 3 cardboard canisters that I got from my mom (they used to be on this shelf here.)  I like the texture and earthy color that they add.

I layered a couple of old books with a small silver urn that I got while shopping with Kris (Junk Chic Cottage) in Chicago last summer.  She took us to the cutest shop called Tattered Tiques and this was one of my purchases from there.

It's monogrammed with the letter 'P' which has no significance to me...I just liked it!

On the other end I placed a silver candelabra with a tag made by a friend hung on it...

And finally, I strung up my burlap and rhinestone banner again.

So there you have it...my new winter mantel!

We've been spending a lot of time in front of the fire (as you can see by the ash that I neglected to clean up before taking pics...oops! I could've cropped it out, but instead I'm keepin' it real :)

The temps have been in the single digits and they're heading for below zero!

Hope you're keeping warm in your neck of the woods!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

  11. Ash or no ash, it's fabulous. Actually, I wouldn't have noticed because I was so distracted with your beautiful vignette. Love every element!

  12. Beautiful and simple - as always, I love it.

I made some changes to our house ( not done yet) and one shelf in the dining room was created with you and Kris in mind. I decorated my white shelf with metal bits and pieces and very little color which is quite different for me. I love it.

  14. This is so pretty and perfect for the cold winter months! I totally fell in love with your banner and I am left with tons of burlap from making them as gifts. Would you mind if I borrowed the idea? The rhinestones add a nice touch of elegance.

Sorry you were down for the count. No way to end or start a year. Hope you feel better with each day. It's freezing here, too. 9 below right now but warming up to 0 tomorrow!

    XO,
    Jane

  21. I am so envious of your Winter Mantel for many reasons, one being that you always find the most beautiful combinations of items and your mantel switched from Christmas to Winter as mine is still donning the Christmas glitters!…and I love the juxtaposition of the burlap and "diamonds"..the diamond in the rough banner…just beautiful!!

  30. Susan, I love your mantel, and your personal flare. Love the lavender wreath, but wonder..does it shed every time you move it around? Kris said she thinks the P stands for perfect, but I think it stands for Panoply ;) (hint, hint).
Staying inside today, that's for sure! Brrrrr!
