Back Stoop Spring Style

Hi, everyone!  The main entrance that we use is at the back of our house, and has a tiny stoop.
Even though this area is small, I still want it to be BIG on style!

It looked like this throughout the (looong) winter...

It was definitely time to switch it up to spring!

I kept the barn door there as a backdrop, and the shabby little tricycle stayed, too (just 'cause it's so darn cute!)

I replaced the wreath with this metal 'parking' sign that was stored in our basement.

I love the bit of whimsy that it brings!

In place of the sled there is now a chippy green bench (that used to be in the dining room)...

...that I topped with an old gas can that I just got at the flea market.

I love that it has the look of a watering can. I was drawn to its patina, and the long spout, and the writing stamped onto it, and the wooden handle, and...well, all of it!

I filled it with a few lime green/yellow silk hydrangeas from Pier 1 to add a pop of color.

(Plus they pull out that same color that's peeking through on the trike.)

Combine all of these elements together...

...and my back stoop now has some long-awaited 'spring style'!

What do you think?

Thank you so much for stopping by!

  17. Such a cute little space - love it! I was at Sweet Salvage on Thursday and picked up a cool sign that says: 'Complimentary Valet Parking' that I am going to put on my back patio where I park all of the girls bikes and car. I have an old gas car and a few other pieces that I will add. Looking forward to putting it together in the days ahead, even though it has been in the low 100's the past few days! Enjoy a super week! Blessings, Cindy

  18. Perfect welcome! Love the sign and the can. I always have my eyes out for old signs and that one is a real beaut. Love the pop of color. Well done my friend! My rustic red trike is hiding amongst plants. The other day I thought that I needed to pull it out to be seen. Thinking it will go out on my front porch for a touch of Americana come June.

  29. How Charming! And except for the sign, quite reminiscent of many a door I entered at friends' houses during my childhood. We'd park our bikes/trikes, hang our skates, stash the jump rope or ball or handful of jacks, and dash in on the linoleum for a drink of water or to grab an apple, and away again.

I'm smiling at the memory of all those grubby, elbows-and-shouts children, most lost in the mist of memory. Thank you for this lovely reminiscence.
