Hi, everyone! In my last post (here) I showed you how my decor is going lighter and brighter.
I gave you this sneak peak of an area that I've changed in the hallway...
...and now I'm going to give you a better look!
This is what the hallway looked like before...
I had my stack of suitcases here for many years! That has to be a record for something staying in one place!
As much as I love those suitcases, I was craving a change, so I replaced them with a stack of wicker 'trunks'.
I'm really loving wicker right now and used it a lot in this space. I feel that it gives a lighter vibe and plays nicely with my whites.
I topped the trunks with a small pile of vintage linens. The monogrammed one on top is a recent purchase.
I've had this barn wood chalkboard in storage for awhile and decided to hang it behind the wicker stack (with one of my favorite sayings added!)
On the adjacent wall I hung a wicker basket that I recently got, and filled it with a couple of gorgeous dried hydrangeas that my friend Suzanne gave me from her garden. Look at those beautiful colors!
Next to the wicker trunks is the huge statement piece (coat rack) that my mom got us.
From one of the many hooks I hung a wire birdcage (a Christmas gift) with a candle.
Then I totally changed out the top shelf of the rack.
I gathered a collection of wicker bottles...
...and added my old apple picking basket filled with more dried hydrangeas.
I got this at the Country Living fair a few years ago and it's still one of my favorite finds!
...then I topped it with a shallow dough bowl.
It holds the mail and random magazines.
So, what do you think?
Are you wacky for wicker, too?
Have a wonderful day! And stay tuned for a fun giveaway that I have coming up! :)
I do love wicker especially trunks, picnic baskets, and wall pockets. But please tell me you kept the suitcases or I will cry. I love the rack above the "new" table. The apple bag with the hydrangeas are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love everything! You are a stacking expert! XOXO
ReplyDeleteI do love wicker, in fact I'm having trouble keeping my hands off white pieces when I see them. My home is quite small and I just can't keep bringing things home :) You did a great job redecorating your hall way space, Impressive! However, I do believe that new linen piece of yours with the # 3 on it was supposed to come to AZ :) Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely. I love the coat rack, and I like the way you added the little extras, like the hydrangeas and your beautiful linens. The wicker does give a lighter look, I still love your suitcases though.
ReplyDeleteIt looks pretty!
ReplyDeleteYou are one heck of a collector, Susan! I have never seen your suitcases and that is quite a lot. And the wicker...wow, I couldn't find all of that in all my years (and that's a lot! Ha!). But seriously, I know you get out and about and everything you've done is for the best...very light and breezy and a great fresh look. I love it all! :)
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
I think it looks GREAT.....and as much as I loved the suitcases I think I like the wicker even better for the warm weather months. You pulled everything there together beautifully. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteOh my! Those wicker baskets are absolutely perfect! I LOVE them! Geez, I love it all! xo Jen
ReplyDeleteOh Susan it looks great. Love all the wicker baskets. They are just awesome and you know how much I love that hanging rack. Everything looks amazing. Love love your vignettes.

Hi Susan, Yes, I'm wacky for wicker too. I adored your stack of suitcases but the wicker trunks look fabulous as well. Your new decoration on the top shelf of the rack is beautiful too and I love your new wicker basket on the wall. What a great unusual shape.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Sunday!
Julia
I think those wicker trunks could make us all want to start a new collection! Now! Everything looks so pretty.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I went on a historic home tour that you would have loved. The house is over 100 years old and it was decorated so beautifully. The woman could tell you the story for almost everything in the house. Apparently she has always lived in our little town and as families have died and moved from the old houses...she's been there buying the goodies. She has gas lights that have been electrified, lots of old moulding, mirrors, chairs hanging on walls, you name it....I was swooning!
I love it, Susan! Unique and beautiful. I think my favorite is your apple picking basket w/ hydrangeas. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAlways so fun to visit here. :)
Have a lovely Sunday,
Lin
I love everything you have changed!! That apple picking bag is the bomb. I also have wicker trunks stacked in my art room. And your mom found a great piece for you. Great changes. Di@Cottage-Wishes
ReplyDeleteLove the wicker trunks changed out for the suitcases, Susan! It does have a lighter feel, plus they make me think of picnics. : ) Love the dried hydrangeas, too! Can't wait for mine to start blooming this year. I think the three I put in after we moved in should get a little bigger {or at least have more blooms this year} so I will be looking to cut some to dry this year.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great, I love the huge wire baskets and wicker trunks. Beautiful !!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I'm headed out to an antique show this morning and will definitely be keeping an eye out for wicker baskets like your. I still love your apple picking bag...one of my favorites.

ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful texture added to your whites, gorgeous! You know me with my love of textural things, so yes wacky for wicker, woven baskets, rattan, love it all. Your stacked trunks ... L-O-V-E them.
Once again Susan you rocked the vignettes! Nice chalkboard, boy you've been a busy girl changing out your rooms. I've been working on a few small house projects but not overly ambitious with moving furniture around like you. You work your magic and sprinkle creativity in every room, very impressive.
Happy Sunday,
XO,
Vera

ReplyDeleteI am working on freshening up my vignettes and I got an idea from you - my dining room window shelf is going to lose the pitchers and bowls and get a bunch of metal baskets. I can't wait to get to work.
Those are cool wicker trunks. I have not seen many like that!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, bet putting legs on some would make great side tables!
