Hi, everyone!
I don't know if it's the rare glimpse of sunshine that we finally got, the long-awaited warm temps or what, but I've been bitten by the 'white bug'!
I've been lightening up the slightly darker, more rustic areas of my home with whiter pieces of furniture and lighter looking vignettes.
I just brought up this little bookcase that I've had stored in the basement...
...and put it in the living room.
There's a little sliver of wall space where I've had my barn wood shelf (here) hanging for a long time. I was ready for a change, and this bookcase fit the bill! It's small and narrow and fits perfectly.
I started with hanging a white frame with a small clock face in it...
then added a little vintage lamp and my collection of glass bottles that was on the mantel (here.)
I was so excited to win a TJ Maxx gift card (my favorite non-vintage store!) in a giveaway from Roxie at Sweet Vintage of Mine and I used part of it on this sweet little chippy guy...isn't he cute?
I've had these a very long time and I've never seen anything else like them. They look like some kind of buoy or something to do with the sea. They're just cool to me!
(Does anyone know what they are?)
My mom just got this old cherub vase at a tag sale for our shop but I promptly stole it! It's ornate and not something I would normally have, but for some reason I'm just really drawn to it.
Last week it was finally warm enough to go to my beloved flea market (insert fist pump!) and I found this little ironstone sugar bowl. I've waited through a looong winter to finally be reunited with my flea, and I was rewarded with a few good finds!
For the bottom 2 shelves I just collected some treasures from around the house.
I wanted a new look, and I think I got it!
What do you think?
Here's a sneak peek into the hallway where I've changed up some more things...but that's for another post!
I always appreciate you stopping by!
Have a wonderful day :)

So pretty Susan!!
ReplyDeleteI think it is completely stunning in all of its white goodness! You nailed it!!! Wishing you a lovely weekend lady! Nicole xo
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I like the bookshelf, especially the size. I'd love to see a wall of 3 or 5 side by side.
ReplyDeleteThe clock faces makes it all come together. I wonder what the clock looks like that has numbers styled like that.
This is such a lovely vignette...love the thingies...
ReplyDeleteYou know I love white--that bookcase looks lovely. Everything looks so bright and clean. I love the white!
ReplyDeleteI love the white elements in your house and just love the idea with the frame! The dark accessoires are here moving to the attic. Maybe it's indeed the sun :)

ReplyDeleteAlmost unbearably beautiful, Susan. Such peace and loveliness.
ReplyDeleteOh Susan,
ReplyDeleteWhat do I think? I think I'm going to say it again ... You rock the vignette art of arrangement. I thank you for letting us know the official term for numbered items, from now on I will only call them "numbered thingies"! Now call me crazy but with cherubs and clock face white theme in this vignette, I see a small feathered angel wings (9-10 inches wide with the clock face in the frame suspended down on thin string from the wings, artfully suggesting time flies.
XO,
Vera
So fresh and crisp, Susan!! We must be thinking along the same lines these days. :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful frame, and you have the best clock faces!

I like the change you made! I always like whatever you do. I of course love the whites you used. With the changing of seasons, it always brings about changes at home for me too.
ReplyDeleteI like the new look!
ReplyDeleteI love the look....do you have another clock face for the bottom shelf? Cuz that way the numbers would go from top to bottom.....just thinking it might be cute....sweet little bottles too!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I love how you put everything together. I have a new book shelf by my bed and I've struggled for several weeks... yes I said weeks to decorate it. Could you stop by ;-)? I need help. I need your skills! I'll figure it out. I love the numbered thingys and the angels too. Funny how things just speak to you sometimes.
ReplyDeleteHello Susan! You have a beautiful frame as well! Can't wait to grab my cup of coffee tomorrow & check out your blog a little more!
ReplyDeleteYour angel is adorable Susan! I think your vignette of "white" is beautiful and speaks of Spring! Thanks for the mention and I enjoy seeing how you are changing things up a bit.....that always makes us decorating divas feel good! Blessings~~~Roxie

Susan...the bookcase fits here just perfectly and I really love everything you have displayed on it. I'm looking at the clock face...I don't get out much like you do...fleas, antique shops, etc., but I'd love one. Should I check out Ebay or just wait to get lucky??
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean by wanting to lighten up. I've been shopping the house!
XO,
Jane
Susan- It looks REALLY REALLY nice! I think the bookcase is a perfect fit and I love all the whites you have here. I love that bunny, too, with his bits of old color showing through.
ReplyDeleteI am ready to "lighten" things up here, too, even thought it is still COLD and brown here! xo Diana

Love it! Can you please tell me the name of the paint used on the walls? It looks like a light greenish gray. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi! Sorry...the walls were this color when we moved in 8 years ago, and I don't know what they used!
ReplyDeleteHowever, we used a color in our office that is a great green/gray/taupe and it's called Cityscape by Martha Stuart. :)
Like your vignettes and have pinned the full bookshelf...is it possible the numbered cylinders are counterweights?
ReplyDeletelove the little bookcase, susan:) very pretty!
ReplyDeleteSusan beautiful vignette and the first things that grabbed me was that frame and little white chippy guy. Gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteCynthia
Wow...Susan! You have so much class! Your style is just gorgeous! xo Jen
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your number thingies!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I just don't know what else to say, I love every component you used. I'm not really sure what those numbered "thingies" are but they sure look good on your shelf.
ReplyDeleteLove all the white and the clock faces!...Your vignettes are always full of interesting and beautiful things!..
ReplyDeleteSusan you know I'm all over this! I love white :) That clock face in the frame is so darn cute - I may have to copy that sometime!
ReplyDeleteSo very pretty! I wish I could go to a flea market!! Lucky you :)
ReplyDeleteI love the look of layered and chippy whites, so this is right up my alley. Love the clocks and the numbered thingys! Are they very heavy? They almost look like they could be weights to hold down things tied to those hooks. Whatever they are they are awesome! Have a great day :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Deborah
Everything is put together perfect and pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove all the white Susan. Everything is so fresh and pretty. I'm loving the bunny! You are such a tease...giving us just a little peak at the hallway! Will check back.:)
