My Hall (of Fame)

As I mentioned in the previous post, I've 'met' so many wonderful, uplifting bloggers.  One of them is Barbara from Treasures From The Heart.  Last night she included me in her sweet post (which I really appreciate.!) But the amazing thing is that she's just reached over 1000 followers, 1400 posts, and 4 years of operating her store-wow! She's been busy! Please go check her out and enter her celebration giveaway...tell her I sent you :)
Now we continue my home tour into my front hallway/entry.  Our house is a 1929 Colonial, but it's not a traditional layout...the front of the house is a big open hallway (basically unused space, but that's ok-more for me to decorate :) then the kitchen in the back of the house is TINY (but that's ok, too, since I don't cook!)  This gives you the perspective of walking out of the living room into the hall. I've got quite a collection of suitcases, but this is my highest stack. I especially love the 'striped' ones, as you can tell.
My mom found this incredible piece at an auction and got it for us for Christmas-what a gift! It came out of an old library, and has tons of hooks (on both sides!) each with a number plate. When she told me about it, she said "I hope you can find a place for it" and when I saw it I said "Oh, we'll FIND a place for it!"  Let me tell you, this thing is huge, and solid oak.  My poor dad and hubby had to use some strength to haul it in (plus we have a big hill as our front lawn so they had to lug it up that.)  It's probably the most commented on piece in my house when people come over.

It's always hard to get good pics of this wall because of the light.  Next to the coat rack is a small table then the front door.

On the other side of the front door is just a little space before you enter my dining room.  Of course I couldn't leave it bare!

So that's the one side of my front hall...I'll show you the other side next time!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  43. That is one spacious hallway. Love your collections-you have some really awesome pieces. The coat rack is really neat, I'm wondering if it was a coat check piece for events at that library. They probably took your coat and handed you a matching number. Really cool.

  48. I am absolutely in love with your home!!!! The coat rack is AWESOME!! We picked one up (minus all those awesome hooks and numbers) at an estate sale last summer. It was too big for where I had intended. Seeing yours in front of the window like that has my wheels turning and I am going to sit and stare at my rooms a little differently later. Do you sit and stare? I sit and try to become one with the room I am working on and all the pieces in "inventory!!!"
