Hi, everyone! (Thank you to Lavender Garden Cottage and Boogieboard Cottage for featuring this post!)
I just realized that our half bath is the only room on the first floor that you haven't seen yet! It's in the back of the house, off the kitchen and also the office. I thought I'd show you my newest fun find, plus the little bathroom. This weathered metal birdcage caught my eye at the flea market last week...it was sitting on the ground looking all lonely, and I could swear that I heard it whispering to me to give it a good home! Has that ever happened to you? It's super rusty and crusty, but I still fell in love, and indeed, brought it home.
I then introduced it to the top of a little shabby metal cart that is in our downstairs half bath. I got this cart years ago at a sale for a steal, and I love it! It's been all over the house.
I filled the birdcage with a vintage scale (with another tiny birdcage on it,) a pot of dried lavender that says 'bloom' and a bird that my mom got me. They all fit just perfectly!
On the middle shelf I stacked some of my decor books, and on the bottom shelf is a basket that I found new at a shop in Cleveland-I thought it was cool with the twine wrapped around the top. It's holding a couple of grain sacks and a big piece of rope, just cause I thought it was fun, and would 'tie into' the twine on the basket...(hey, I just made a funny...lame, I know.)
Here is a vintage mirror over the sink...I got it at an antique mall a while ago and love its' lines and etching.
I put this little 'sign' on the back of the toilet, because...well, what else are you gonna do in the loo? ;)
This metal basket in the corner came from my favorite 'new stuff' retail store-Homegoods-and holds extra t.p.
Just for kicks, this is what the cart looked like before the birdcage made its debut...
Just a few little tweaks-I wasn't even planning on changing this vignette, but you know how it is when you bring something new in...you gotta find a way to work it in!
So, there you have it, our little half bath. Have a wonderful day!

ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend, Mary Alice
Your house is amazing all the way down to you half bathroom. Is there a room that does not get neglected? I can't wait to have a house that is decorated in every corner.
ReplyDeleteLove your half bath...and I really love the way your chippy whites look against it! What color is it, if you don't mind sharing (?)
ReplyDeleteHi, Ricki! If you're referring to the wall color, I'd love to share, but it is just a mis-tint w/out a name that we picked up from Home Depot for like $6! The bathroom was a bright green when we moved in, so we painted it this more neutral color-it's almost like a butterscotch shade.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Susan

ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteI love the birdcage and the cart! They both have such charm. The old vignette was wonderful, but I am such a bird lover that the new one stole my heart. Home Goods is my favorite new store also. I would love to find a cage with such cute style.
Hugs,
Jann
Talk about jealousy...why do you want to do this to us?! This is all too cool. Every bit of it. The birdcage is simply perfect and that cart...how do I find one of those? Talk about must haves. This is something I'll be pining for now.

I love it! It fits in perfectly in that room. Did you know that I once had that exact thing? I think it's referred to as a terrarium really. Mine was off-white and I eventually passed it on to my MIL for her sunroom. I love how you displayed vintage items in it.
ReplyDeleteLOVE!!!! thank you for stopping by my [lace and becoming a follower... always so nice to meet others who love junk and fun stuff. Your bathroom is delightful. Perhaps someone will need the rope to get out of a flushing accident. lol...It is very sweet. I love every bit of it. Looking forward to getting to know you. Mica @ The Child's Paper
