Hi, everyone! This Sunday is my birthday-46 years young! I'm a firm believer in celebrating your birthday for a whole week (my hubby says the truth is I like celebrating the whole month!) So this week has been full of FUN birthday shopping! Whenever I wanted to justify a purchase I'd say "well, this is my birthday present to myself"....works for me! :) So I'm going to share with you some of my fun finds.
First off, my favorite: this large, tarnished, engraved trophy from the 1930's!
My heart literally started beating faster when I spotted it on a table full of 'junk' at the flea market. Around these parts these babies are hard to find, and when you do find one, it'll cost ya your firstborn (which I don't have anyway! :) So I was extra thrilled to get it for a steal.
I also found the creamer next to it-I thought it had very unusual lines and looked 'trophyish' (I think I just made up a word.) This next little set is so tiny and cute, I couldn't resist!
I've always wanted one of these 'banana crates' but just like with the trophy, whenever I've seen them the price has been outrageous! (If you haven't noticed before, I'm quite a bargain shopper!)
I was so excited to find this and for a very reasonable price-score!
I filled it with dried hydrangeas and set it in the middle of our dining room table.
Unfortunately it won't be able to stay here because a certain naughty kitty, for some strange reason, thinks dried flowers are a tasty snack!
Anyway, back to my finds...adding to 2 of my growing collections are a feed sack and a Dundee Marmalade jar...
A large perfectly chippy frame...
A fun, shabby 'For Sale' sign...
A gigantic flower frog...
And this huge wire basket...
So, what do you think? Which of my new treasures is your favorite?
It's been a great birthday week, and I haven't even gotten my 'official' presents yet! ;)
Thank you so much stopping by, and have a fantastic week!
I'm sharing this at these wonderful parties: Shabby Art Boutique

Happy Birthday!! I can't believe you're even in your 40's. You look too young! Gosh, I like everything you got. You lucky duck! Hard to pick a favorite. I really love the chippy frame, the trophy and the marmalade jar. That banana crate is so neat too. I rarely see those when I'm out shopping. So, that was a good find.
ReplyDeleteWonderful birthday goodies! My favorites are the trophy and marmalade jar! Hope you have a Happy Birthday week, Susan!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to you! Beautiful things you've got (nice birthdaypresents ;)

Happy Birthday! What wonderful finds you picked out for yourself. I love the crate and trophy. I think we junkers always find our own best birthday gifts because you can't find them in regular stores. I hope you have a wonderful birthday. Alaina
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, you found a lot of nice 'junk'! There is nothing wrong with celebrating birth month...yes, MONTH. One of my sorority sisters taught me that, there are many of us in the month of June, so celebrate away!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour philosophy of birthday presents is very similar to mine, only I use the birthday excuse for a purchase months in advance of the actual day! I'm LOVING the tall trophy cup...yes, they're very hard to find, much less at a good price. And I really like the banana crate. Not sure I've seen one like that.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a fabulous birthday!!!

ReplyDeletehappy birthday to you, susan! fabby finds--love the trophy and the for sale sign, esp:) enjoy tomorrow!!
ReplyDeleteHow can I decide? I like them all! We have a large trophy from my husband's mother's side. Nobody knows exactly who the person whose name is on it was, but she thought it was special and so did I. Everybody else made fun of it but when we were clearing out her apartment after she passed, I made she the "loving cup" came home with us! It sits on my office desk and I love it! You got some great birthday week goodies! Happy Birthday to you! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteHappy BirthWEEK! :-) I love that you celebrate all week long...very cool. Oh my gosh, what treasures...geesh, I would have to bring a really big purse when I visit you!!! I just LOVE LOVE LOVE all your stash - the banana crate is stealing my heart, I think...but I do love that shelf full of goodies in the back (prior post). It is amazing what you can do with such wonderful finds...I think those things "find" you...sometimes I think "things" have a way of making their way to a good soul with the perfect home and those good souls have a the type of spirit that can spot that special treasure just waiting to be adopted and loved.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing,
Big hugs
Elizabeth
A girl should be able to celebrate her birthday for a week, just like she can be any age she wants to be!! (you are a beautiful and young 46!) LOVE the trophy but I have a soft spot for flower frogs...anything garden! A Happy "must love junk" Birthday!! Blessings~~~Roxie

ReplyDeleteI like all the gifts, but I really like the gold-colored, wire basket.
Happy Birthmonth since it is no longer your Birthweek. Why not stretch it out? I I love that you buy yourself presents. I have found that it is the only way to get those special things we want. You can't send your husband back to find something like the great trophy.
ReplyDeleteHappy Decorating
