More Living Room Changes

Hi, everyone!

I started showing you some of my dramatic living room changes, here, including our new slipcovered couch and love seat, and replacing our map behind the couch with this chippy door.

I'll continue with showing you more changes today.

Beside the couch I placed a shabby bench...

...and on top of it a wooden bucket holding a tall topiary.

For the longest time I had a barn wood bookcase on the far wall next to the french doors to the sunroom.   It looked like this.

Not that there was anything wrong with it...I just wanted a change.

Now that wall looks like this!

I moved one of my favorite tables in from the sunroom to replace the bookcase.  I found this large tobacco drying basket at the flea over the summer, and now it's leaning on top of the table as a 'backdrop.'

Then I added this HUGE cherub lamp.  I found this at an antique mall in Columbus and fell in love with it!  It's hard to get the scale of it, but this baby is big!

I like the whimsy and fun she brings to this room!

Next to her I placed an urn filled with dried hydrangeas...

...set atop a large architectural base that I found at a little shop and thought was cool.

On the adjacent wall I hung an old stenciled door that I got at a friend's shop a few years ago.

I put my old postal cart on the bottom shelf of the table...

...and beside it I placed a shabby milk can filled with pussy willows.

And this is more of my new look in the living room!

Here's a view of the room including my basket of 3 pumpkins on a bench beside the love seat.

I'll show you where I moved the bookcase next time!

Thanks for stopping, and have a fantastic day! :)

  5. Isn't is amazing how you can go from industrial to romantic with just a few changes, and still be within your farmhouse aesthetic? Looks really good, Susan. The tobacco basket adds just enough color and texture on that wall to pull it together with the central wall.

You've created a room that is welcoming, relaxing and invites exploration. I think you have achieved the ultimate goal of any decorator.
