Our Chicago Trip-Part 1

I want to thank all of you for your huge show of support for my 'Cottage of the Month' feature!  I appreciate each and every one of you that take the time to visit my blog, and those of you who left a sweet comment here or on Facebook regarding this special honor!

If you recall from this post last October, my hubby and I love to visit Chicago at least once or twice a year.  Last week we were there for a 5 day getaway, and we had the best time!

If you would've told me a year ago that I'd become friends with another blogger in a different state, then arrange to meet her in person, I wouldn't have believed it!  I'd heard of other people doing that, but I just didn't think I'd be comfortable with it.
Well, that all changed last week when I met Kris from Junk Chic Cottage, in the flesh! (These pics are from her yard...can you believe the green thumb she's got?!)

Kris and I started blogging around the same time (about a year ago) and we made a special connection.  Throughout this past year we've emailed more and more, so when I knew that we'd be visiting Chicago it seemed natural to make plans to meet.  Keith and I took the train about an hour out where Kris and her hubby Terry picked us up and showed us a fantastic day-we ate, shopped, gabbed, and laughed!

Let me tell you, these peeps are the most gracious hosts! (And aren't they so cute?!)
I've always drooled over her home on her blog, so it was such a treat to get to tour their home in person!  Kris has such amazing style, and Terry is so talented at making whatever Kris can dream up-what a great team!
(I even shopped in their house, which I'll share in another post! ;)
One of the places they took us to is a favorite local shop called Tattered Tiques.

It's a really cute shop, and I found several (packable) goodies!

I enjoyed meeting the owners (a mother and 2 daughters) in person too, since we follow each others blogs!  They're so sweet!

I took a million pictures of Kris's home, but I'll leave you with this one.  If you haven't yet visited her blog, you'll have to pop over and check out her fabulous home and garden!  I'm so glad that we had the chance to meet, and I hope we can get together again some day! :)

I'll share more of our trip next time.  Have a wonderful day!

  1. Lucky you, Susan! I love Kris' home and she is the Petunia Queen in my book! : ) Hers look so great, I'm almost hoping a verbena I have doesn't make it so I can replace it with petunias. It sounds like you had a fun time. I'll bet the shopping was great!

You know what they say about people you meet on the internet!!!! Ha Ha!!! We had a super time and want to do it again soon.

  16. How very fun! Kris has been super nice to me in the blogosphere, and it looks like both you AND the guys made a great connection!

I'm not too far from you, Susan, and someday hope to meet you (when you said Hartsville in a recent post, my ears perked up - a local vendor had recommended it to me previously and it's not far up I-77 from us! My sisters & I made a written note of it and plan to get there, maybe this summer).

Can't wait to see what you bought out of Kris' house!
