A Dose of Spring

Hope you're having a great weekend!

It seems like the main thing on everyone's mind lately is the weather, namely this brutal winter.

While attending an antique show this past week I spotted these pages of botanical prints out of an old 'Biblical Natural History' book.

Their fresh, spring images really spoke to me.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them, but I bought 3 pages anyway.

When I got home I noticed my large chippy frame that I had moved to a different wall was empty. Hmm...

For a quick, easy solution to adding these to the frame I simply hung 2 sheets with a couple of torn pieces of white masking tape.

Now if you're the kind of person who likes things to be done the traditional way, or if you crave order and neatness then I'm sure you're cringing right now!

But to me this ensemble is perfectly imperfect.  My kind of artwork.

The tape is meant to be 'whimsical' and to show that I don't take my decor too seriously! :)

And the soft colors and beautiful images give me hope that spring will eventually arrive!

So this is my easy fix for a dose of spring.

I'm wishing you your own 'dose of spring'!

Thanks for stopping by :)

  3. We love you and we GET you!! I wish I could find something similar. I don't have a frame like this but I would like to tape something to a big old window I have. I love that you used masking tape, too. You rock!

  5. That is beautiful Susan! I was looking at my shelf in my living room today and noticing how much brown and bronze there is on it right now. Then at lunch my hubby mentioned it as we were sitting in the dining room looking into the living room - I said 'yeah I'm thinking it's time for some SPRING!' Thinking about starting some wheat grass just so I can see some green grass! It's supposed to warm up this week - hoping it last long enough to get these piles and piles of snow gone!

  6. Great pieces of art, Susan. Now- here's the thing. I would have hung them with tape BUT I would have made those little tape rolls and used them behind the sheets so that people would think they were magically stuck there. lol Those DO make me think of Spring in spite of the fact that we have six inches of snow coming tomorrow AGAIN!!!!! xo Diana

  12. Great prints in an 'original' frame :) Every blog I stop by the writers are begging for spring. I have yet to turn my heater on even once this year. We have not seen one drop of rain, had one cold day or experienced a moment of winter. It's been in the upper 80's for weeks. So I personally am begging for winter!!!! :)
