Tray Chic

(Thanks to Revisionary Life for featuring this post!)

Hi, everyone!  When I start getting bored with my decor, an easy fix is to change up the top of our factory cart coffee table.  I usually do a more rustic vignette, but this time I wanted to create something a little different.

I left the grain sack as a 'runner' then started with this heavy, tarnished silver tray.  I like the juxtaposition between the rough wood and the ornate silver.

I stacked 2 large decor books...

...and topped them with a white ironstone pitcher...

... filled with 'flowers' made out of old pattern paper and buttons as the center...

...then added a little silver pedestal dish holding my collection of small clock faces...

...and this vintage apothecary bottle...

...and voila...a new vignette!  Simple, but it's a fresh look.

Here's a better view of the factory cart.

I've mentioned before that Keith surprised me and stenciled the 'Dept No 3' on it when I was gone one weekend, because that's my favorite number! So sweet :)
(Notice the little photo bomber in the background?)

That's Bo, our latest addition.  He can't help himself when I get the camera out...he just has to be the center of attention!  (To see how much he's grown in the 5 months that we've had him, go here.)

Anyway, as I was showing you before I was interrupted (ha!) here are more pics of the living room...

I hope that you enjoyed seeing my new coffee table vignette!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

  10. Susan, That looks very nice-love the tray on the rough wood coffee table. You know what I like best about your room though? It just feels COMFORTABLE and homey. I feel like I could sit down on your sofa with a cup of coffee (yes I promise not to spill) and coax your kitty into my lap and feel right at home. It is a wonderful room and I can tell how much you love your home. xo Diana

  11. Very pretty vignette, Susan! I used a large silver tray when I did the last change up on my coffee table. It was a nice change from the wood tote I was using for awhile.

  12. Everything looks amazing! I always love a tray with pretties on it....we have trays all over the house! Love your kitty too...don't they just make it feel like home?

When we moved in this house I wanted an industrial cart for a coffee table but lost patience and just a table at PB. Maybe I should keep looking and pass this one to my son. :)

  17. As usual, I love it all - even the kitty.

I am so limited in what I can put on my coffee table (cedar chest) because our puppy runs around knocking thing over.

  22. Susan,
Adore factory carts!!! I think the rustic luxe feel of the glam with the industrial is warm and unique. Bo >^..^< is absolutely precious and I appreciate him being the tour guide to your charming living room. Love the paper flowers in the pitcher. They are very creative and add an unexpected tactile accent.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and please tell Bo job well down with the tour.

  25. Your vignette and living room are so nice. Just love it! Certainly, I am unable to live with so much white with my crew, but I truly Love looking at it! ?You are a seasoned collector, would you have passed a fabulous ironstone sugar bowl (great condition) for just a few dollars but no lid? Sometimes its hard for me to think beyond 'perfect' :)

  43. Now that I can't "tease" you anymore I 'll just say how pretty your vignette is! I like your cat, Bo, our dogs was name Bo (passed last year) and it brought good memories back. He does seem to be having a hard time resisting those fake flowers, but then I'd know how that feels!

  46. Thank you Susan for taking a minute to stop over and share with me all that inspires you.
I love your look and could see my style merging with yours with a great blend, this is why I love the pieces in your home. I love your authentic floor boards and your so right a simple vignette can add all the right kind of rightness to a room.
I have been working on some projects here. Namely tearing out carpeted areas reading them for a paint treatment.

Keep inspiring your creative beauty with the help of sweet kitty.
